We designed the bed that didn't exist.

Alter Ego began with a simple idea: why should a bed designed for more than sleep have to look like one?

We wanted something different. A beautifully made, solid wood bed frame that could sit proudly in any bedroom, while discreetly concealing an entirely different side.

That product didn't exist. So we designed it.

The result was the Alter Ego Bed. A discreet, dual-purpose bed frame designed to transform when you want it to, and disappear back into an elegant piece of everyday furniture when you don't.

There are no obvious mechanisms. No need to compromise the look of your bedroom. No reason for anyone else to know what your bed is capable of.

Every Alter Ego Bed is made to order in the UK from solid wood, combining traditional furniture craftsmanship with our original dual-purpose design.

Each frame is individually built, finished and quality checked before being carefully packaged for delivery.

Our new UK production model has allowed us to dramatically improve the way our beds are manufactured, packaged and delivered. We now aim to complete builds within 2–3 weeks of ordering, although production times can vary during periods of high demand.

We don't mass-produce our beds. We make them for the people who order them.

From the beginning, discretion has been at the centre of everything we design.

In its everyday configuration, the Alter Ego Bed is simply a beautifully crafted solid wood bed frame. When you choose to transform it, its concealed features reveal an entirely different purpose.

What happens after that is entirely up to you.

Our designs are intended exclusively for consenting adults. We do not incorporate locking mechanisms or features designed to prevent someone from releasing themselves, and we strongly believe that every experience involving our products should be based on communication, trust and mutual consent.

Furniture shouldn't define how you live.

We believe your home should reflect every part of who you are, without requiring you to put every part of yourself on display.
