🔨 What are your beds made of?

All our beds are handcrafted from engineered defect free pine, sustainably-sourced wood. No MDF,  just real timber, built to last.

📦 Do you offer delivery?

Yes, we deliver across the UK, EU, Shipping is calculated at checkout.

🪛 Is assembly required?

Yes, but it's super straightforward. Our beds are designed for quick setup with minimal tools. Each order comes with instructions, and we’re always here if you need help.

⏳ How long does delivery take?

We ship directly from our workshop in Europe. UK and EU orders typically arrive within 7 - 14 business days once production has finished . 

📏 What sizes do you offer?

We currently offer standard UK sizes (Double, King, Super King), EU sizes (Double, King, Grandeking.

🛠 Can I customize my bed?

To a degree, yes. You can choose wood finish and ring hardware (gold/silver/black).

💬 What’s with the name “Alter Ego Beds”?

We believe your bedroom should reflect both comfort and personal expression – your alter ego, if you will. Some of our designs are also built with a little... extra functionality.

🔐 Does your product come with a locking mechanism?

No. our bed frames are intentionally designed without any locking mechanisms. We believe strongly in promoting fully consensual use at all times.

The primary function of the bed is exactly that, a high-quality, handcrafted bed built for everyday rest and comfort. Any alternate or playful use is entirely optional and should always be based on mutual trust, open communication, and clear consent.

We’ve designed the frame to be versatile, discreet, and respectful of personal boundaries.

🔒 Is payment secure?

Yes, absolutely. Our store uses Shopify’s built-in SSL encryption, and we accept all major credit cards, alongside more approved payment gateways.

🔁 What’s your return policy?

We accept returns within 14 days on unused, undamaged items. Return shipping costs may apply unless the item is faulty.

⚖️ What are the weight and dimensions of the package?

Each bed frame ships in one large, heavy-duty package containing all the individual components. Depending on the size (Double, King, etc.), the total weight is typically over 200kg.

  • Weight: 180kg - 200kg + (depending on bed size)

  • Packaging: 1standard euro pallet with 5 individual reinforced carboard boxes with protective internal wrapping

  • Contents: Disassembled solid wood components, hardware, assembly tools & instructions

Due to the weight, we strongly recommend two people for handling and assembly. Our packaging is designed to protect the wood during transit, and every part is organized for easy setup once delivered. 

🛠 How does your production process work?

Each bed is made to order – we don’t pull from warehouse stock. Once you place your order, it’s scheduled into the next available production slot in our workshop.

  • Production time: 2–4 weeks

  • Handcrafted: Every bed is individually built, finished, and quality-checked by our small team of expert craftspeople

  • Sustainability: We only produce what’s needed, reducing waste and ensuring every piece is made with intention
